  • Question
What about the metal staple in the microwave oven?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You're supposed to heat up the water first, then dunk the packet in the hot water for about five minutes. So the staple will never be in the microwave. Also, a staple is small enough vis-a-vis the amount of liquid that it won't affect the microwave.
  • Question
Do I need to use any specific type of ground coffee (like finely ground)?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
No, you don't need to use any particular grinding technique for this.
  • Question
Can this method be used to make a 'cold brew' coffee, or is that a whole different type of coffee?

Yes, the concept is the same. Instead of hot water, however, let the coffee steep for 12 to 24 hours at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

Tips

  • It´s recommended to leave the bag in your cup and just microwave the whole thing for about 2.5 minutes. Then let it sit to steep for an additional 2 minutes to fully develop the flavor.[3]
  • These are ideal to make in advance and can be stored in Ziplock bags and taken to work for making a convenient single cup of delicious fresh brewed coffee.
  • This coffee bag prevents any grounds leaking out and allows for enough space within the satchel to allow the water to flow freely and steep out the coffee color and flavoring.
