Soaking gummy bears in vodka creates an adult twist on a popular snack, and some mighty tipsy bears! You can also use other gummy candies, like worms, in the recipe. And just like people, expect the bears to swell slightly as they soak up that vodka. (Expect the bears to have a hangover the next day, too).

  • Prep time: 5 minutes
  • Cook time: 2-3 days
  • Total time: 2-3 days

Things You Should Know

  • Soak your gummy bears in vodka for at least 2 days to infuse them.
  • Taste a gummy bear on the second day to see if they’ve absorbed enough vodka for your liking.
  • You can drink any of the leftover vodka from the bowl if you’d like.

Ingredients

Servings: 30-40

  2. Place the covered bowl in the refrigerator. Allow the gummy bears to infuse for 2 days.
  3. Decide if it has sufficient vodka flavor for your liking. If not, then allow the candies to soak for an additional day.
  4. The gummy bears will have absorbed most, if not all of the vodka.
  5. If you have a little bit of leftover vodka, simply pour the vodka into a glass if you want to drink it. Otherwise, discard the vodka–whatever is left over will not be of a quality you'll want to use for mixed drinks.

  • Question
Can I just put them in a mason jar with lid instead of bowl and saran wrap?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Sure, but it's going to be somewhat hard to get them out of it. While you could strain them, you would probably end up with goo if you aren't really careful and chunks in your strainer, even if you are taking care.
  • Question
Can I put them in sandwich baggies and take them out on the lake or should I just leave them in a cooker?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Yes, you can put them in plastic sandwich bags once the vodka is soaked into the gummies. They may melt if they get hot, however.
  • Question
Do I need to put it in the fridge or can I leave it out at room temperature?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You can leave it out, but the bears will be more squishy than if refrigerated.

Tips

  • Keep the soaked bears in the fridge if not serving immediately. Keep covered, to prevent fridge smells from spoiling the party.[2]
  • Depending on the brand of gummy bears, you may need to jiggle the soaking bears every now and then to prevent them sticking together too much.
  • Other gummy candies can be used, such as gummy worms.

Article SummaryX

To make vodka gummy bears, empty a bag of gummy bears into a medium-sized bowl. Then, pour vodka into the bowl, stopping when the gummy bears are completely submerged in the liquid. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 days so the bears can soak up the vodka. On the second day, taste a bear to see if it’s strong enough, and remove the rest of them with a slotted spoon to serve!
