This wikiHow article will show you how to import bookmarks from Chrome and other web browsers into Edge on your PC or Mac. And if you're switching to Chrome from Edge, we'll also show you how to import Edge bookmarks into Chrome.

Importing Favorites to Edge: Quick Steps

  1. Click at the top-right corner of Edge.
  2. Click Favorites.
  3. Click at the top of the Favorites menu.
  4. Select Import Favorites.
  5. Click Import next to your old web browser.
  6. Choose data to import and click Import.

    • You can use this method to import bookmarks from any web browser, including Chrome, into your Edge favorites.
    • You will have the option to import bookmarks only, or import other browser data like saved passwords, autofill form data, saved payment methods, and even browser extensions if compatible.

    • If you exported bookmarks to an HTML file from another web browser, such as Chrome or Firefox on a different computer, you can click the Import button next to "Import browser data now," select Favorites or bookmarks HTML file, and select the bookmark file.
    • If you are using Windows 10 S Mode, you will only be able to import bookmarks from Internet Explorer and Chrome.[5]
  7. In addition to importing bookmarks to add to your Microsoft Edge favorites, you can also import other data, including saved passwords and browsing history. Each browser will have different options, but you'll definitely see the most options in Chromium-based browsers like Chrome.
  8. This begins importing the bookmarks and other selected data from your other web browser. You will find all the imported bookmarks on the "Favorites" tab (the icon that looks like a star and three lines).[6]
    • If you allow the Edge browser to sync with your Microsoft account, your favorites will also be available on your Edge mobile browser. To allow the browser to sync from your computer, click the profile icon, then click the gear icon. Click the Sync menu, then choose what to sync.[7]

  1. If you want to import bookmarks from Edge to Chrome, you will need to save your Edge favorites to an HTML bookmark file, then import that file into Chrome.[8] To get started, follow these steps to export your favorites:[9]
    • In Edge, open your Favorites and click •••.
    • Select Export favorites.
    • Name your file and save it to a location you'll remember.
    • If Edge and Chrome are on different computers, you can move the file to the destination computer by copying it to a flash drive or emailing it to yourself.

    The new Edge is chromium type so go to settings and search import. Click on import browser data, select your profile and old browser. Select what you want to import and click import.
