Did you change your phone number recently and forget the new one? Or maybe you've found a SIM card and want to find out the phone number assigned to it. As long as you can insert the SIM card into an iPhone or Android phone, you can easily find the attached phone number, even if you're not connected to a network. This wikiHow article will show you how to check the phone number associated with your SIM card.
Quickly Find Your SIM Card’s Phone Number
- Many carriers will display your phone number if you dial or text a specific code. For example, dial #686# in the Phone app with T-Mobile.
- If your carrier doesn’t offer this service, call another phone and check what number shows up.
- You can also see your number under Settings > Apps > Phone on an iPhone or in Settings > About Phone on most Androids.
Steps
-
Try your carrier's help code. Depending on the carrier, you may be able to call or text a special number that will display the code on the screen.
- T-mobile: Dial #NUM# (#686#) in the Phone app.[1]
- EE: Text the word Number to 150.[2]
- Vodafone: Dial *#100# in the Phone app.[3]
- O2: Text the word Number to 2020.
- Giffgaff: Text the word Number to 43430.[4]
- Other carriers, including AT&T and Verizon, don't offer this feature. You can try searching for other carriers and "phone codes" to see if your carrier has a number to dial.
-
Call the service carrier. Some SIM cards do not display their number inside the settings of any phone. In these cases, you'll have to call the service carrier listed on the SIM card to ask.
- If you can't make outbound phone calls, take the card to a store that sells that service carrier's SIM cards. A customer service representative should be able to help you track down the associated phone number.
- If you bought a new SIM card, it may not have a number yet at all. Once you place it into a compatible phone, you'll be able to activate it on the carrier's network.
- If you are calling from the phone using the mystery SIM card, the carrier may be able to detect the number automatically. If not, have the SIM card visible so you can read the serial number aloud.

Send a text message or call another phone. If the SIM card is active, you can text or call another person and ask them what phone number they see. This will work unless the number is private.
-
Insert the SIM into your iPhone. Once your iPhone recognizes the SIM card, it will figure out the attached phone number (if there is one).
- Some newer models of iPhone have an eSIM rather than a physical SIM. If this is the case, you can still look up your phone number in the Settings menu of your phone.
- You may need to contact your mobile service provider for information about how to set up your eSIM.

- If you do not see your number, look for "SIM Status." Tap that to view the final sub-menu where your number appears.
- You may see multiple numbers if you have more than one SIM card installed.
-
Check the SIM Manager menu as an alternative. With some Android phones, you may be able to see your SIM or eSIM’s phone number in the SIM Manager menu. To access it:[11]
- Open the Settings menu and select Connections.
