The Bible says that the rapture is a time when Christ will come back and take all believers still on Earth to Heaven with Him, also resurrecting those that have already passed on. While the date was not prophesied in the Bible, many Christians look out for signs that the end of the world is coming. Wondering if the rapture is near? Input the signs you're seeing and we'll tell you if they are Biblically accurate.

Rapture Scripture & Dates
Bible Verses About the Rapture[1]
- "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
- "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." Matthew 24:29-31
- "Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen." Revelation 1:7
- "So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him." Hebrews 9:28
- "Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth." Revelation 3:10
- "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed." 1 Corinthians 15:52
- "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only." Matthew 24:36
- "Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming." Matthew 24:42
- "You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." Luke 12:40
False Raptures
The Bible does not prophecy when the rapture will occur, though it does list signs that mean the end of times is coming. There have been many false dates of the rapture predicted and spread around online. Here are some of the most recent:
- September 22-24, 2025: Joshua Mhlakela, a South African pastor, claimed he had a vision of Jesus Christ returning during Rosh Hashanah. As other pastors shared his prediction, it went viral and inspired some Christians to sell off their belongings in order to prepare for the rapture. Many such people shared their journeys online, sparking a #RaptureTok trend on TikTok.[2]
- 2020-2021: Many people believed that the COVID-19 crisis signaled the end of the world.[3]
- 2014-2015: A preacher by the name of John Hagee claimed that the 4 blood moon lunar eclipses during this period indicated the rapture.[4]
- May 21, 2011 & October 21, 2011: Christian radio broadcaster Harold Camping predicted that judgment day would occur on these two dates. Believers cited natural disasters, conflict in the Middle East, and the legalization of same-sex marriage in some states as "proof" that the world was ending.[5]
