Omg that new Meta AI in the Facebook search bar is so annoying and NOT helpful. Please tell me there's a way I can get rid of it for good.

After searching, it seems that Facebook still doesn't have an option to turn off the AI features.

The next best solution might be leaving feedback, it could be a long time before they take action, and they may not take action, but if enough people let them know, there is a greater chance they will make a change.

Instructions to leave feedback on iPhone (iPad instructions below):

1. Go back to where you saw the problem and shake your mobile phone.

2. Tap Report problem.

3. Tap Include or Don't include.

4. Please explain what you were doing when the problem occurred and what steps we can take to reproduce the problem.

5. Review the screenshot. You can edit it by tapping Edit image, delete it by tapping Delete or add a different screenshot from your camera roll by tapping Upload from phone. There is also an option to record a video.

6. Tap Send in the top right, represented by a paper airplane icon

If you can't use shake to report a problem, you can also report a broken feature in Help & support:

1. Tap Menu in the bottom right of Facebook, represented by three stacked lines

2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Help & support.

3. Tap Report problem, then scroll down and tap Continue to report.

4. Tap Include or Don't include.

5. Select the Facebook feature you're having a problem with, then describe what happened. Please include the steps you took to encounter the issue.

6. Add a screenshot from your camera roll by tapping Upload from phone.

7. Tap Send in the top right, represented by a paper airplane icon

Leave feedback on iPad:

1. In the bottom right of Facebook, tap Menu (three stacked lines icon)

2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Help & support , then tap Report a problem.

3. Tap Continue to report.

4. Below Choose feature, select the product you're having a problem with.

5. Tap What went wrong? and type a few sentences about the issue and the steps to
reproduce it.

6. To add an attachment, tap Take screenshot.

7. Tap Send in the top right, represented by a paper airplane icon

To leave feedback on Android:

1. Go back to where you saw the problem and shake your mobile phone.

2. Tap Report problem.

3. Tap Include or Don't include.

4. Describe what happened. Please explain what you were doing when the problem occurred and what steps we can take to reproduce the problem.

5. Review the screenshot. You can delete it by tapping Delete or add a different screenshot by tapping Upload from phone.

6. Tap Send in the top right to submit your report, represented by a paper airplane icon

If you can't use shake to report a problem, you can also report a broken feature in Help & support:

1. Tap Menu in the top right of Facebook, represented by three stacked lines

2.Scroll to the bottom and tap Help & support.

3. Tap Report a problem, then tap Continue to report a problem at the bottom.

4. Tap Include or Don't include.

5. Select a category in the Select product list.

6. Select the Facebook feature you're having a problem with, and then describe what happened. Please include the steps you took to encounter the issue.

7. Review the screenshot. You can delete it by tapping Delete or add a different screenshot by tapping Upload from phone.

8. Tap Send in the top right to submit your report, represented by a paper airplane icon

Thats right, you can't get rid of it anymore, but you can mute it! If you tap the little blue circle in the search bar to open the AI chat and then click the info circle in the top right, then you can mute the chat for as long as you want.

Yah, I think there used to be a way to block the Meta AI profile, but I think they got rid of that in an update :/

As far as I know, there isn't a way to turn off the Meta AI, but you can can still type into the search bar to use it like normal. Just avoid clicking on the blue circle so you don't go into the AI chat.

I looked on Reddit and couldn't find any solutions to this :/ Trying to convince my friends to move to a different platform to show Meta that we don't want AI forced upon us

Look for a “Search Facebook” option in the results dropdown as you're typing. That should allow you to use regular search instead of AI search!

No matter what search filters you add there will still be sponsored results that appear regardless. It's almost like search filters are just suggestions rather than actual parameters.

You can search "name" and "city" and "workplace" or whatever information you have to narrow search results to just specific people.

I was locked out of my account for a few days but finally I cleared my browser's cache and tried logging in again and it worked. So if you're dealing with being locked out of your account, maybe give that a try and see if you have any luck.

You can also try looking for answers in the Facebook Help Center before going through the hassle of trying to contact someone. Sometimes the problem you're having has already been addressed in a topic in the Help Center.

You can sometimes track a person down with a few details. If you know they're friends with your friend, scour your friend's friend list and see if the person is on there. Or if you know their first name and their city or their workplace, try searching those in conjunction.

Try to find them on another social media platform first. It may be easier. Once you've found them there you may be able to find them under the same username on Facebook.
