I would like to know the best beginner app or website to learn data entry that is also free. I have no experience in this at all, but from what I've seen I just need to be able to type very well and I can already do that so I think I'm off to a good start.

Data entry is typically an entry-level job, so you don't usually need experience to get hired and the company will train you on the skills you need. Companies look for candidates with strong skills in typing (accuracy and speed), organization, communication, time management, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and computer literacy.

Practice soft skills (like organization and communication) at your current workplace or educational institute if you have one. Develop hard skills (including typing and computer literacy) on your own with free online courses, tutorials, and quizzes. Completing an internship or volunteering are great ways to develop both soft and hard skills.

You can get a step ahead by learning Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets by following along with free data entry tutorials on YouTube. Some of the best courses for learning data entry do cost money, but they usually come with a certificate that helps your resume stand out.
  • Udemy has a crash course for beginner data entry for $13.99.
  • Coursera offers multiple certification programs through Google and IBM for learning data entry and analysis, but prices vary depending on the course.

One of the sites I use is The Practice Test. There's nothing to download, you receive instant scores, it covers all sorts of data entry, and it is FREE.
