I've heard you can screen-record on your Android without downloading a special app, but I must be dumb because I canNOT figure this out and I've had this phone for almost a year. How do you do this? Or do you have to download an app after all?

Swipe down from the top of the screen (sometimes twice) and select Quick Settings, then go to Screen Record. My 3rd party app recommendations would be “recordyou” and “screencam."

I swiped down but I'm not seeing the button--I'm only seeing wifi, volume, etc. - is that the menu where it should be?

To screen record on Android, swipe down, then swipe down again. There should be a "screen recorder" button in the menu.

When you're ready, tap the screen record tile. There are different settings to also record audio and/or record touches so make sure you've selected the ones you want to use. Then swipe down and tap stop when you're done.

In a pinch, just film your computer screen and audio with your phone. The quality won't be as clear, but it may be the best workaround.

Remember that TV shows and movies you record are copyrighted, and you could get in trouble if you get caught sharing videos.

It's hacky but I usually just take a photo of my computer screen with my cell phone camera. Unless I need a good quality photo for some reason, it's good enough and easy.

If a website has a security wall up, try screen recording the page. Then just play back the recording and pause on the spot you want to get a screenshot of.
