Does the Salvation Army pick up furniture in your home?

Howdy, friends! I’m in the process of moving and I’d like to donate some furniture that I don’t think will work in my new place. However, I am a very tiny person and the furniture is very heavy. It’s not a fun combo. If I try to donate this stuff to the Salvation Army around the corner do you think they’ll come pick it up? I really can’t move it myself and I don’t know anyone with a truck that could help me take it somewhere.

If you can get a friend or neighbor to move your stuff to the curb for you, you can put it out there with a sign that says "Free" and someone will probably come and take it.

Don't sweat about not being able to move it yourself! You can schedule a pickup with your local Salvation Army online or over the phone, and it's completely free :)

If you don't feel like going through Salvation Army you could post your furniture on Craigslist or your local free and for sale or buy nothing group and I bet there are people out there who would come and take it off your hands for free.

First of all, thank you for donating your furniture. Too many people just throw things out when they don’t need them, and there’s a huge need for good furniture out there. To answer your question, kind of. The Salvation Army will pickup furniture, but they will not enter your home if I remember correctly. So, if you can just get the item to your porch or the street in front of your house, you’re golden. You can schedule a pickup with them here: https://satruck.org/donate/choose

If you absolutely 100% cannot get the item outside, I’d look for a Goodwill near you. Goodwill does go inside of your house to get furniture if you need the help, you just need to coordinate the pickup with them. If you live in a medium-sized city or bigger, there are almost positively smaller charities where you live that will pick the items up if you prefer! You just have to look online to see what’s around you.
