This wikiHow teaches you how to figure out who unfollowed you on Instagram. Since Instagram has largely banned apps which retrieve this information for you, the safest way to do this is by checking your list of followers either in the Instagram app or on a computer. If you’re looking for a way to find out exactly who unfollowed you, download your Instagram data and upload it to the FollowsBack website. FollowsBack is relatively safe, and it’s easier than keeping track of your follower list yourself.
Checking Instagram Unfollows with FollowsBack

-
4Select your export file. If you're using an iPhone or iPad, you can find your downloads in the Files app. If you're using Android, use Files or My Files. If you don't see the file, check other cloud service locations on your device.
-
5View your following and unfollowing list. Once the website processes the file, you'll see a list of followers along with the date followed and date unfollowed.
- If you have a large following/unfollowing list, this process may take longer.
-
Open Instagram. Tap the Instagram app icon, which resembles a multicolored camera front. This will open your Instagram feed if you're logged into your account.
- If you aren't logged into Instagram, tap the Log in link if necessary, then enter your username/email address/phone number and password.
- Use this method to manually check for users who may have unfollowed you. This will only work if you know the usernames of those who follow you.
-
Tap followers. You'll find this tab at the top of the screen. It will have the number of current followers above it.
- For example, if you have 100 followers, you'd tap 100 followers here.
-
Look for absent followers. Scroll through your list of followers and look for missing names. If you don't see a particular person whom you know was following you, they probably unfollowed you.
- This is difficult to manage if you recently lost a large number of followers, but you should be able to get an idea of the people who stopped following you if they're people you also follow or interact with.
- The user in question may have deleted their Instagram account instead. You can check to see whether or not they still have an account by tapping the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen and then searching for their name. This may not work if the user blocked you, however.
-
Go to www.instagram.com/ in a web browser. This will open your Instagram main page if you're logged into your account.
- If you aren't logged into your account, click the Log in link near the bottom of the page if necessary, then enter your username (or email address, or phone number) and password.

- For example, if you have 100 followers, you'd click 100 followers here.

Tips
-
Sometimes your best bet is to compare your follower count to its previous version. If you know that you had 120 followers yesterday and you're at 100 followers today, for example, you know that you lost 20 followers. This doesn't tell you who unfollowed you, but if you're worried about analytics, the "who" doesn't really matter as much as the "how many" in this case. Thanks
Warnings
- Since Instagram has banned most services from telling you whether or not people have unfollowed you, you can expect any such service to have a short lifespan. Thanks
