Do you want your phone to ring for a fake call and get you out of a particularly awkward or uncomfortable situation? Or maybe you want to prank your friends? There are plenty of apps on the Google Play Store that offer to make fake calls, but most of them are inundated with ads that ruin the ploy. This guide will teach you how to get a fake incoming call on your Android.
Getting a Fake Call on Android
Download "Fake Call - Prank Friends" from the Play Store to create a realistic fake call, complete with a name, number, profile pic, and pre-recorded audio. Select a time for the call. The fake call will ring, vibrate, and have the audio you selected.
Steps
-
Download a Fake Call app on your Android. Not all apps are good bets, but "Fake Call - Prank Friends" by Korea Inc. Dev is one that works. This app lets you schedule calls in advance, so if you're going out in 30 minutes, you can schedule a fake incoming call for 45 minutes.
- To download the app, open the Google Play Store app and tap the magnifying glass icon.
- Type Fake Call - Prank Friends and tap the search result offered by "Korea Inc. Dev."
- Tap Install.
-
Open the fake call app. You can tap the app icon in the app drawer, on your home screen, or tap Open in the Google Play Store page, if that's still open.Advertisement
-
Fill out the details to create the fake caller. Add details like a name and number from which they are calling.
- Add a profile picture if you want the call to look like it's a number in your contacts list for which you have a profile picture.
-
Add a voice recording. If you're getting a real call, the other end of the line isn't quiet, right? So you need to add a voice so the fake call sounds real.
- Tap Add voice, then tap Allow twice so the app has permission to access your audio storage.
- If you have the time, pre-record the other end of the call. Check out our guide to disguising your voice, which covers helpful tips like using a cheap voice-changing toy.
- If you've already recorded a sound clip, tap the clip under "Sounds," or tap Recordings to see more options.
- To record a new fake caller, tap the microphone icon, then tap the red icon to start recording. Tap the red icon again to stop recording, and then tap the checkmark to save.
-
Select the call theme. You don't want the call to look drastically different from your phone's actual calls, so this is a crucial step. For example, the screen looks very different if you're using Vivo, Nokia, or Samsung, so you'll want to select a theme that matches your Android model.
- Tap Select Theme.
- Browse the selection of themes based on the phone's manufacturer and model.
- Tap to select a theme, and you'll see a checkmark in the top right corner.
- Tap the pencil icon to edit the theme more, like create a custom background.
- Tap the eye icon to preview the theme. This will emulate the fake call so you can hear the ringtone and see the call screen at the same time.
- Tap the checkmark in the bottom right-hand corner to continue.
-
Tap Continue. It's the green call button centered in the middle of your screen. You can't continue without adding some details, like the calling number.
- You'll see a "Make call after" screen.
-
Select a time for the fake call. You can get the fake call immediately or with a delay.
- Tap to select a time or tap the clock icon to customize it. For example, you can schedule the fake call days later.
- Tap Done to schedule the call.
- That's it! You'll see a countdown to the fake call on the app's screen. Tap Make another call if you want to schedule another call. When the time comes, your phone will ring and vibrate like any other call, displaying the call screen that you created (using the fake name, number, and profile picture, if you set one up). When you answer it, you'll hear the pre-recorded call or audio that you picked while creating the call.

1How do I get fake numbers to stop calling me? These aren't "fake" calls, but are most likely "spam" or "scam" calls. One surefire way to tell that it's a spam or scam call is that there is a moment of silence between you picking up and a human replying. That's because a robot is placing the call, and it takes a moment to connect to a human when a voice responds instead of voicemail. You can block the caller to prevent them from calling again.
-
2Why is my phone making phantom calls? We've all been there: your phone is in your back pocket, and something (like lint) dials a number and then hangs up. You can prevent this by turning on pocket-protection or moving your phone to another location.
