If you've used WhatsApp, you may be wondering if the app sends a notification when you take a screenshot. Similar apps like Snapchat have this functionality, but WhatsApp does not. If you (or someone else) takes a screenshot in WhatsApp, the person you screenshotted will not be notified that this happened.
WhatsApp Screenshot Notifications
WhatsApp does not send notifications if a screenshot has been taken. You can prevent screenshots by sending your photos and videos as "view once" messages, which can only be viewed once and cannot be screenshotted.
Steps
How to Block Screenshotting in WhatsApp
-
Send your message as a "view once" message. If you send a photo or video to another user and don't want them to screenshot it, you can send it as a "view once" message. Messages set to "view once" can only be seen one time, and other WhatsApp users cannot screenshot these messages. Do note, however, that a user can use another phone or a camera to take a picture of your view once message to circumvent this.[1]
-
Be careful what you send via WhatsApp. While this won't stop people from screenshotting you, it can reduce the chance of someone screenshotting something you don't want to be saved or spread around.
- Only send messages on WhatsApp to people you trust. If you're sending messages to people you don't know, never send messages, photos, or videos that you're not comfortable sending.
