If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, you have likely accidentally opened one of the NVIDIA overlays while trying to use your computer or play a game. While these overlays can be useful, many users find them annoying and bothersome. In this article, we'll teach you how to fully disable all NVIDIA overlays, as well as the keyboard shortcuts to turn them off if you've accidentally turned them on. We also explain how to change the keybindings to activate the overlays. Read on to learn more.

Disabling the NVIDIA Overlay

To fully disable the overlay, open GeForce Experience, click on the gear icon, and toggle off the "IN-GAME OVERLAY."
To turn off the performance overlay, press Alt+R.
To turn off the full GeForce Experience overlay, press Alt+Z.

Open the NVIDIA GeForce Experience app. You can easily do this by typing "geforce experience" into the taskbar search bar, then clicking GeForce Experience in the window that pops up.
- If you aren't logged in, you'll need to do so once GeForce Experience opens.
It's next to your username and profile picture. This will open your NVIDIA GeForce Experience settings.

Click the toggle next to "IN-GAME OVERLAY." This will disable both the GeForce Experience overlay and the Performance Overlay. You won't be able to open either of these overlays anymore by pressing their keybindings (Alt+R for the Performance Overlay or Alt+Z for the GeForce Experience Overlay).^{[1]
