Whether you run your own YouTube channel or are interested in someone else's channel, you might want to find out the number of channel views. You can check a YouTube channel's total views with a few simple clicks. This wikiHow will teach you how.

Checking a YouTube Channel's Total Views

From a YouTube channel's page, click the …more button, then scroll down to see their total views. You can also view your channel's total views in YouTube Studio in the Analytics section. If you need to look up this info for a lot of channels, you can use a third-party site like ViewStats.

  1. Go to www.youtube.com and search for a channel. Click on the channel's title from the search results to open it.
    • You can use this to see the total view count of either your own YouTube channel or any other YouTube channel.
  2. It's near the top of the page. Look for the clickable bolded text after a snippet of the channel's bio. It's underneath the channel's name, subscriber count, and total video count.

  1. Open www.youtube.com in your web browser and log in to your account, if you haven't done so.[1]
  2. The menu panel will show up after you do so.
  3. It has an icon of a play button surrounded by concentric pentagons, and is right above the Purchases and memberships option.
  4. It's located in the left-hand menu and has an icon of a bar graph.
  5. In this dropdown, choose Lifetime.
  6. Your channel's total lifetime views will be shown in the middle of the screen. You will also see a graph showing the distribution of your channel views over time.
    • You can also see your channel's total watch time and subscriber count. If you click on one of these tabs, the graph will change to show the chronological data of these metrics as well.

Using ViewStats

  1. Go to www.viewstats.com. ViewStats is a third-party website that aggregates stats about YouTube channels. If you want to look up a lot of channels in succession, this might be a more efficient option than going to each YouTube page individually.
    • Because this is a third-party site, the stats may not always be updated in real time. Any stats you see on this site should be viewed as approximate.
  2. In the search bar in the middle of the screen, type the name of a YouTube channel and click the magnifying glass button or hit Enter on your keyboard.
    • You could search for your channel or any other YouTube channel.
  3. Under the "Total Views" header, you'll see the channel's total view count.
    • There will also be a number after the view count. This is the channel's global views ranking. If a channel has a star by this number, they're in the top 100 channels with the most lifetime views.
      • To view the global total views leaderboard, click the Top Lists dropdown and choose Top Channels. Then, under the "By Total Views" header, click Most Views (All Time).

  1. Open www.youtube.com in your web browser and log in to your account, if you haven't done so.[2]
  2. The menu panel will show up after you do so.
  3. It has an icon of a play button surrounded by concentric pentagons and is right above the Purchases and memberships option.
  4. It's located in the left-hand menu and has an icon of a bar graph.
  5. It's at the top of the page, under the "Channel analytics" settings.
  6. In the dropdown in the upper-right corner of the page (under Advanced mode), choose the time period for which you want to view your unique viewers.
  7. YouTube will display how many unique viewers you've had, as well as how many returning viewers. Unique viewers differ from total views slightly, as this shows how many individual users watched your videos during the selected time period. Total views shows the overall aggregate of all views, including duplicate views by the same user.[3]

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. 1
Can you see who views your YouTube videos? No, you cannot see who exactly watches your YouTube videos. The only way to get an idea of who has seen your videos is to look at the comments or to check social media. People in the comments—especially those referencing part of your video—have likely watched it. People may also be discussing the contents of your video on social media, which means they've likely watched it as well.
  2. 2
How does YouTube count a view? A view is counted once a user clicks play on the video and watches for at least 30 seconds (these 30 seconds don't have to be consecutive). If an ad plays before the video and the user clicks off before the video actually starts, it doesn't count as a view.
  3. 3
How can I tell how much a YouTube channel makes? There's no easy way to know exactly how much a YouTube channel makes. YouTube channels can earn money through multiple streams—including ad revenue, merch sales, affiliates, sponsorships, channel memberships, and more. Social Blade gives a rough estimate of how much a YouTube channel could be making, but this isn't always accurate. The only way to know for sure is if the creator discloses how much they make from their channel.
