Are you curious about your travel history? Can't remember the name or address of a place you've visited? Fortunately, when Location Services are enabled on your iPhone, your device will keep track of certain locations you visit and add them to your Significant Locations list. If you need to revisit somewhere you've been before, you can check your Significant Locations list in your iPhone's settings. You can also use Apple Maps, Find My, and more to track where you or another person has been. Here's how to check iPhone location history, plus a few alternatives.

Open the Settings app. This is the cog icon on your Home screen.
- When you have Location Services enabled, your iPhone can record locations that you frequently visit or spend time at.
- Keep in mind that this won't include a complete list of places you've been. For more methods to view your past locations, see the alternatives.

Tap Significant Locations. This is near the bottom of the page.

Alternatives for Checking Location

Apple Maps. When you route to locations on Apple Maps, it stores the location along with where the route began. You can view and clear this information right in the Maps app. To check, do the following:
- Open the Maps app.
- Tap More next to the Recents header.
- View your recent locations.
- To clear your locations, tap Clear.

Google Maps. Similar to Apple Maps, Google Maps can keep a record of places you are routed to and from. However, you must be logged into your Google account when using the app to record and check your history. Do the following:
- Open Google Maps.
- Tap your profile icon.
- Tap Your data in Maps.
- Tap Manage your Timeline underneath Timeline.

Find My. If you have other Apple devices linked to your Apple account, you can use Find My to track its location. This can also provide information on where you may have been. You can check the location using the Find My app or by logging into iCloud on a browser. To check:
- Open the Find My app.
- Tap Devices.
- View its location.

Photos. When you take a photo using the iPhone camera, it can store data such as location and time. If you receive a photo on Messages, you can also check for any location data. Do the following:
- Open the Photos app.
- Tap the photo.
- Swipe up on the photo.
- View the location under the image.

Life360. If you have Life360, you can use its features to check your location history. This is a dedicated family safety app that stores active and past locations. If you have this app set up, check your history by doing the following:
- Open the Life360 app.
- Tap a member.
- Tap the purple map icon to view detailed history.

Social media. Some social media apps have data you can use to determine places you or someone else has been recently. You can look at recent posts for location information, such as a memorable landmark, popular restaurant, and more.

You can't see your full location history through your iPhone. This is to protect your privacy and security. However, there are ways to check some places you've been. You can use your iPhone's Significant Locations feature, your photo data, Apple maps data, and social media.
- Unless you have a dedicated app that tracks and saves your location at all times, you won't be able to know exactly where you've been.
