Can you download on HBO Max?

As long as you have a Standard or Premium plan, you can download shows and movies using the Max mobile app on your phone or tablet. Just go to the movie or show episode and tap the download icon. Make sure you have a stable internet connection and free space on your device.

You can download on Max if you have a Standard or Premium plan. If you have the Basic with Ads plan, you won't be able to download any shows or movies to your devices. However, if you have the Standard or Premium plans, you can download shows and movies to watch when you're offline.^{[1]

- If you have the Standard plan, you can have up to 30 downloads across all your devices. If you have the Premium plan, you can have up to 100 downloads across your devices.
- When downloading movies, you can have up to 30 downloaded at a time for both Standard and Premium.
- Keep in mind that some series may have a limit of 25 download episodes per series at a time.

Open the HBO Max app on your Android, iPhone, or iPad. You must have at least a Standard plan or Premium plan to download shows and movies for offline viewing. If you have a Basic plan, you won't be able to download anything.
- It is not possible to download movies or shows on your TV, laptop, or desktop computer.
- If you aren't already logged into your account, do so now.
Use the search bar to enter the name of a show or movie, or browse your home screen for something to watch.

Select the download icon. This will be next to the title or episode description.
- If the content downloads in a different language for subtitles and/or audio, select the play button, and then select your preferred language. Return to the content description screen, and then select the download icon.
- If you need to cancel a download, select the progress icon, and then select Cancel.

Tap the download icon. If you don't see this icon, tap your profile icon first.
- You'll see a list of all your downloaded shows and/or movies.

Select a movie or show. The content will start playing.
- If you want to delete a download, select the checkmark icon, and then tap Delete Download.

Check your storage. If you can't download a movie or show from Max, you may not have enough storage on your phone or tablet. Content from Max cannot be saved onto an SD card. To find your available storage space, do the following in the Max app:
- Navigate to your profile.
- Select App Settings.
- Select Download Settings.

Make sure you have the correct plan. If you can't find the download icon for a movie or episode, you may have the Basic plan. You must have the Standard or Premium plan to download content.
- Additionally, make sure you're using a supported device.
- Some episodes or movies may be unavailable for download in your region.
If you can't play your download, try force-restarting your app. Then, try again.

Check the number of downloads. If you're getting a "Download Limit Reached" error message, you've reached the maximum number of downloads for your plan.
- If you have Standard, you can download up to 30 items.
- If you have Premium, you can download up to 100 items (or 30 movies).

Do HBO Max downloads expire? You have 30 days to watch a download before it expires and is removed from your downloads. If you begin the content, you have 48 hours to finish watching it before it expires.
- If a download expires, you can easily renew it by tapping the downloads icon, selecting the expired download icon, and then tapping Renew Download.
