Since anyone you follow on Instagram has the ability to add you to a group conversation in Instagram Direct, you might find yourself getting too many chat notifications. You'll just need to tap the group chat you want to mute, tap Info, and then toggle on Mute Messages.    Open Instagram. This app icon looks like a camera over a rainbow background that you'll usually find on the Home screen, in the app drawer, or by searching.

   • You can't block everyone from adding you to group chats on Instagram since anyone you're following has the ability to add you to a group. However, if you find that you're in a group chat and don't want to see the chat messages, you can mute the group.
   • Alternatively, you can use the web browser on your computer to go to https://www.instagram.com/.
