This wikiHow guide will show you how to add, use, and share a ticket or pass to your Apple Wallet. This could be a barcoded concert ticket, an event pass, or even a boarding pass. This feature is a great way to avoid having to carry around all your paper tickets. You can do this for physical or digital tickets on your iPhone or iPad.
Easy Ways to Add Tickets to Apple Wallet
- To add a digital ticket or pass, open the ticket on your iPhone or iPad, then tap Add to Apple Wallet.
- To add a physical ticket, scan the QR code on the ticket with your iPhone Camera app, then follow the on-screen prompts.
- To use a ticket, tap the ticket in the Wallet app, then show it to the attendant or hold your iPhone up to the contactless reader.
Steps
Adding a Digital Ticket
-
Open the email or mobile app associated with the ticket on your iPhone or iPad. For example, if you purchased tickets from Ticketfly for a concert, you'll get an email confirmation of your purchase as well as digital copies of your tickets.[1]
- You can also open the app the tickets are associated with, and look in Events, My Tickets, or similar to find digital copies of your tickets that you can add to Wallet.
- For example, if you're adding concert or event tickets from Ticketmaster, tap My Events in the Ticketmaster app, then tap your order to open the ticket.[2]
- You can also receive your digital tickets from Messages, Safari, AirDrop, or by tapping a notification.
- You can also open the app the tickets are associated with, and look in Events, My Tickets, or similar to find digital copies of your tickets that you can add to Wallet.
-
Tap the Add to Apple Wallet button. This will appear next to the ticket that you want to add. It has a wallet icon with multiple cards inside on a black background.[3]
- If the button doesn’t appear, you may need to open the ticket (if the ticket was sent in a file). Sometimes, you'll get a notification that you have a file share and will need to open the file to see the ticket. Make sure the file is from a trusted source before you open it.
- Not all digital tickets and passes can be added to Apple Wallet.[4]

Follow the on-screen prompts to finish adding the ticket to your Wallet. You may need to tap Add in the top-right corner. You may also be able to select additional preferences for the ticket, including proximity alerts and the location of the event.[5]
- If you have proximity alerts set, you can get a notification on your lock screen that shows your ticket when you are at the venue.

Scanning a Physical Ticket
-
Open the Camera app. If you want to add a physical ticket or pass to Apple Wallet, you may be able to do so by scanning the QR code on the ticket. Begin by opening the camera app.
- Not all physical tickets and passes can be added to Apple Wallet.
-
Capture your ticket's QR code or barcode. Set your ticket on a flat surface, and hover over the code until a small notification appears, such as the option to open a link in Safari or Chrome.[6]
-
Follow the on-screen prompts to add the ticket to your Wallet. After scanning the physical ticket’s QR code or barcode, you will be prompted to complete the process for adding it to your Apple Wallet.[7]
- In some cases, tapping the notification will prompt you to log in to view your ticket–if that happens, you'll usually find an Add to Apple Wallet button on the ticket once signed in.
- If the ticket is supported in Wallet, like an event ticket or movie ticket, it may be automatically added to the Passes section of Apple Wallet.
- If it isn't supported, you won't be able to use it in Wallet.

Using Your Ticket or Pass
-
Open the Wallet app and tap the ticket. You'll see the ticket in the list of cards. This will display the entire ticket in the Wallet app.[8]
- For some tickets and passes, you'll see a notification on your iPhone when you arrive. You can tap the notification, then authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID to access the pass.[9]
-
Use your ticket or pass. There are two ways you can use the ticket or pass in Apple Wallet once you reach the entry point:[10]
- Contactless passes: Hold your iPhone or iPad near the pass reader until you see the checkmark or "Done" message. This will scan the ticket on your iPhone or iPad.
- Passes with barcodes or QR codes: If there is a QR code or barcode on the ticket or pass (common with concert tickets), show the ticket to the attendant, and they will scan the code with a visual scanner.
-
Try using your ticket or pass with your Apple Watch. If you have an Apple Watch, you can use your ticket or pass without touching your iPhone. Here's how:[11]
- If you receive a notification on your Apple Watch about the pass, tap it.
- If not, double-click the side button on the Watch, scroll down, and then select the ticket you want to use.
- Scan or tap your Apple Watch on the ticket reader, or show your watch to the attendant to have them scan it manually.
Sharing Your Ticket or Pass
-
Open the Wallet app and tap the ticket. If you want to share or transfer your ticket to someone else, it's easy. Start by tapping the ticket in the Wallet app to display the entire ticket.[12]
-
Tap the Share icon . You will see this at the top of the screen if the ticket can be shared.
- If there is no Sharing icon, the merchant or ticket issuer has not enabled sharing in Apple Wallet.[13]
-
Share the ticket in your preferred app. You can share the ticket from Apple Wallet using AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or your preferred messaging app.
- If the person you're sharing the ticket with is nearby and has an iPhone, there's another way to share a ticket:[14]
- Tap the ticket in the Wallet app.
- Hold the top of your iPhone a few centimeters away from the top of the other person's iPhone.
- Both iPhones will glow to indicate a connection.
- After a few seconds, you'll see the option to tap Share to share the pass.
- If the person you're sharing the ticket with is nearby and has an iPhone, there's another way to share a ticket:[14]
