Use the Hotmail Safe Senders list

If important emails are getting sent to your junk folder in Hotmail, you can easily add the sender to the Safe Senders list. This allows approved emails to bypass any security flags so you'll get emails without any trouble. Here's how to put a sender on the Safe Senders list on Hotmail (Outlook.com).

Quick Steps

  1. Log into https://outlook.live.com/.
  2. Click the cog icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Click Junk email.
  4. Click Add safe sender.
  5. Enter the email address.
  6. Click OK.
  1. Log into https://outlook.live.com/. Hotmail is now Outlook. You can still sign into your Hotmail account. Enter your email address and password, and then click Sign in.[1]
    • If you don't remember your password, you'll need to reset it.
  2. This is at the top-right corner of your inbox. A pop-up window will open.

    • If you don't see this option, make sure you're on the Mail tab on the left.
  4. This is the button below the Senders header.
    • A new field will appear.
    • If you don't see this option, click the Safe senders and domains tab underneath the header.
  5. If you want to whitelist a domain, enter the URL, such as google.com.
  6. The email will be added to your Safe Senders list.
    • To add another email, click Add safe sender again, enter the email, and then click OK.
    • If you're using a public computer or device, make sure you log out completely.
